Cruising along Route 66 in Missouri near the Mark Twain National Forest, Boofle crossed the Big Piney River and decided to goof around a bit riding a big Big Piney turtle!

Boofle visited the Totem Pole Trading Post on Route 66 in Rola, Missouri. Opened in 1933, it is the oldest in Missouri.

Route 66 - Monroe's 66 Diner

In Pacific, Missouri, Monroe's 66 Diner opened in the
early 1940's and served Route 66 travelers for 60 years 

until it closed in 2005.

It re-opened in May, 2012 as the Down South Cafe 
under new ownership.

It now serves American, Cajun, and Creole food.
 In season, it even serves alligator!

Route 66 - Frozen Custard & a Visitor Center

Traveling Route 66 in St. Louis, Boofle stopped at 
6726 Chippewa St. for a concrete milkshake at Ted Drewes 
Frozen Custard.  Locals and Route 66 travelers have 
been purchasing frozen treats at this site since 1941


After leaving St. Louis, Boofle stopped in Eureka to tour the
Route 66 State Park Visitor Center

Route 66 memorabilia

Route 66 - Odell, Illinois

Boofle is on Route 66 in Odell, Illinois at the restored Standard Sinclair gas station. Open for business from 1932 to 1975, the station has now been restored and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Route 66 - Joliet Prison

While on a Route 66 Road Trip, Boofle stopped by to see Statesville Correctional Facility, more commonly known as Joliet Prison. This is the prison featured in the movie The Blues Brothers as the prison from which Jake Blues is released at the beginning of the movie.
